Seven Questions with a Young Professional
Who: Ryan Gish
What: Chef and Co-Owner of ZIN Room, 316 S. 15th St.

1. Tell us about your job, what you do, and why you chose this career?
I am the previous Chef/Owner of Ryan’s Bistro & currently Chef/Co-Owner of ZIN Room located at 316 S. 15th St.  I actually choose this career when I was very young, I told my parents I wanted to be a chef when I grew up.  I’ve developed the menus for Ryan’s Bistro and ZIN Room offering a variety of Americana Fusion style dishes and also run the restaurant hands on.  I’m anywhere I need to be whether it’s in the kitchen, behind the bar, or running the floor. We also have a variety of meeting spaces and party rooms so it seems that there is never a dull moment.  I’m also a owner of WingIts, a drive through and delivery chicken wing operation.  We have plans to duplicate this product and eventually franchise WingIts.

2. What is your favorite part of living in Omaha?
It’s the little big city!

3. What could Omaha do to be more attractive to young professionals?
I think that Omaha has plenty to offer to young professionals, there are numerous networking groups and ways to get connected locally.  I think that it’s important for YPs who are interested in networking to just get out there and do it.

4. What are your hobbies outside of work?
I would consider work my hobby.  Beyond that I love the water either poolside or traveling to somewhere warm with a beach.  I enjoy going out to eat, watching movies, and wine as well.

5. What is your favorite website (aside from your company’s site)?
Facebook, it’s a genius way to market yourself or your business.

6. If you could have lunch with any one person, living or dead, who would it be and why?
My grandfather, he was a good man.

7. What’s on your favorite T-shirt (or your second favorite, if your favorite is a company T)?
It’s a pink t-shirt that was given to me as a gift with various countries from around the world listed on it.  A few of the places I have visited but most of them I have not but want to, Barcelona being number one on the t-shirt bucket list.
