Seven Questions with a Young Professional
Who: Rob Crain
What: Assistant General Manager, Omaha Storm Chasers
1. Tell us about your job, what you do, and why you chose this career?
I consider myself a jack of all trades and a master of none. I am in charge of all the sales and day-to-day operations of the Storm Chasers club. One day I am selling advertising partnerships and the next I am raking the infield. I chose this career because I love baseball, but more importantly I love watching fans have fun at the ballpark. When people leave here with a smile, I know it was a good day.
2. What is your favorite part of living in Omaha?
I love the small town feel. Everyone seems to know you and you get to know everyone. Omaha is also great because it is a big city with a plethora of entertainment options.
3. What could Omaha do to be more attractive to young professionals?
This city is already great for young professionals. There are many job opportunities and a good local nightlife for YPs to enjoy. There are also numerous ways to get involved with networking to help grow your network both professionally and personally.
4. What are your hobbies outside of work?
I like to play golf – I’m not very good but I do like to play. My wife and I also like to travel a good amount. I’m originally from New England and we like to visit a different baseball park each summer. This year we are headed to Target Field in Minneapolis.
5. What is your favorite website (aside from your company’s site)?
I have a few. I’m a HUGE Steelers fan and like to read the articles on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s site. I also like ballparkdigest.com as I enjoy reading about the other MiLB ballparks and what crazy promotions other clubs are doing.
6. If you could have lunch with any one person, living or dead, who would it be and why?
I’m a big Revolutionary War history buff so I’d like to have lunch with George Washington. The courage it took to fight the British is amazing. The more I read and learn on this subject gives me a greater respect for the forefathers of this country.
7. What’s on your favorite T-shirt (or your second favorite, if your favorite is a company T)?
I have a Portland Sea Dogs T-shirt from my first Minor League game when I was in 8th grade. Yes, it still fits.
